From the Principal

Dear Cutler Families,

Over the next couple of weeks, you will attend your child’s Teacher Conference. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about how your child is doing in school. Teachers will be presenting evidence to support their academic strengths and identified areas for growth, as well as share information about how your child is progressing socially and emotionally. We appreciate this home/ school partnership and are committed to working together to support every child in unique ways.

As I mentioned last week, on October 31 (next Monday), the K-2 children will participate in our annual Cutler School Halloween Parade along the driveway at 9AM. Please note this is purely optional and if you have any questions or concerns please contact me. You are invited, with your cameras of course, to line the “parade route” and cheer us on! We stress the wonderful world of “childhood pretend.” No costumes representing violence or weapons of any kind are allowed. Please send your child/ren to school dressed in as much of his/her/their costume as is comfortably possible. Please send a change of clothing as all costumes will come off immediately following the parade. Please label EVERYTHING!  This is a weather dependent event and if it is raining, the event will be canceled.

Teal Pumpkin Season Returns!

Many Halloween treats contain milk, eggs, nuts, soy, wheat, or sesame and aren’t safe for children with those food allergies. Each year, the Teal Pumpkin Project® raises awareness of food allergies and creates a safer, more inclusive Halloween for all trick-or-treaters by making non-food treats available in addition to candy. Adding your address to the Teal Pumpkin Project Map and placing a teal pumpkin on your doorstep signals to trick-or-treaters that you participate in the Project by offering non-food treats in a separate bowl. You can now add your Teal Pumpkin events to the map as well, from Trunk or Treats to community parties!

CVS Pharmacy® is partnering with FARE to help support the food allergy community and will have Teal Pumpkin Project-approved, non-food trinkets at approximately 4,000 locations and on CVS.com. And, as always, Teal Pumpkin Project resources and downloadables for all your Halloween needs are available on our Teal Pumpkin Project headquarters. Happy hauntings!

From Wenham Tea House:

Donations: Friends of Cutler recently donated a new portable sound system to Cutler! This sound system will be used by both staff and administration as well as the Friends of Cutler volunteers for many different school events and activities. Thank you to Matti Acworth for spearheading this donation.

Gardens and Grounds: Thank you to the Cutler Gardens and Grounds Committee for their cleanup of the Zen Garden! They are working on additional seating and plantings for the garden as well.

Playground Update: In the summer of 2019, a considerable amount of equipment needed to be removed from the existing playground for safety reasons. While the school and students are fortunate that many pieces of the playground, including the swings, rock wall and monkey bars, remain, the center structure was an important part of it, and we hope to find a piece that can be enjoyed by all students in its place. Parents generously donated towards a playground fund to support the purchase of new equipment. Due to the pandemic, the purchase and installation was put on hold, but after a long 3 years, we are thrilled to announce that we have purchased the equipment! The equipment, which consists of a 4 seat seesaw, chimes, metallophone, drums, learning wall, color splash panel, and rain sound wheel is scheduled to be delivered in late March with a tentative installation date of April or May!
