February 20-February 24                                                               February Break

From the Principal

Dear Cutler Families,

It is a busy week here at Cutler. Students are visiting the Book Fair and enjoying cozying up with books. Thank you to all of the volunteers who are helping to make this a success! Here are some students enjoying their books in the classroom!

We look forward to our author visit on Thursday, and our 4th and 5th graders will begin Science from Scientists this week as well. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful programs that our students benefit from.

Cutler School will also be celebrating  Global  School Play Day on Wednesday, February 1st. Here is a wonderful article in Cult of Pedagogy about this day, which includes a Ted Talk. I love her emphasis on "low-tech". Classroom teachers will communicate with you directly about sending in games or other materials for Global School Play Day! We would love to challenge families to extend this day into your home. Open a board game, go sledding, build a fort…. And definitely do it all without a screen!

“Play is the work of childhood.”Jean Piaget

“It’s a happy talent to know how to play.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning.” Fred Rogers

“Play is not just about having fun. It is about taking risks, experimenting and testing boundaries.” American Academy of Pediatrics

“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play, than in a year of conversation.” Plato

Winter is officially here and hope that you love the snow because there is a lot coming!

Cutler School Food Drive
