Mary Cadle joins Cutler School as Secretary

It is with great excitement that we welcome Mary Cadle to Cutler School as our new Secretary. Having taught in the past in Japan and the United States, Mary has said, "Walking into Cutler Elementary brought back wonderful memories of our family's close connection in a similar school, and how fortunate we were to be part of such a special place. My sincere desire has been to work again in a school setting - and I believe Cutler is the perfect fit! I look forward to meeting and getting to know everyone: the staff, teachers, children, and families, building relationships, and becoming an integral member of the Cutler community. I am thrilled to be here; I will see you in the office, in the hallways, or on the school grounds. Please be sure to stop and say hello!"

Janie B. will be leaving us this Friday to travel abroad, but she will be back in the fall as part of our substitute team.

Paul Revere House Traveling Field Trip, Third Grade
Last Friday, both third grade classes welcomed a visitor from the Paul Revere House on the Freedom Trail in Boston.  The children were part of a reenactment of the night of Paul Revere's ride, April 18, 1775.  Students dressed in costumes and used props as they learned facts versus myths about the night of the ride.  Each child played an identified role of a real person involved in that historical ride and they loved every minute!

Fifth Grade Transition

To support students and families with the important transition from Cutler to Miles River Middle School, the following events will take place on June 7th:

For Students: - Student Move-up Day - During the school day, students from all three elementary schools will join staff and students at Miles River where they will learn the landscape of the school, meet key staff, and be provided with some insights from current students about how to prepare for the transition to middle school.

For Parents/Guardians of incoming 6th graders - Welcome Night 6:45 - 8:00pm - Parents and guardians are invited to a Welcome Night in the Multi-Purpose Room at Miles River. School administration, nurse, and counseling staff will be joined by current students to welcome you and provide valuable information about the transition to middle school. After the presentation, attendees will be offered a tour of the school led by some of our Peer Leaders (student mentors).

Covid-19 Update

Since we have returned from April vacation, our Covid-19 case numbers are spiking. Masking is optional and masking is supported and encouraged for all who wish to continue with this mitigation practice. Masks remain available in all schools. You can find out current case counts on the new website on the HWRSD Health Office webpage under HWRSD COVID-19 Data Dashboard. Families are encouraged to keep their students home when they are sick. Also, after 5 days at home with Covid-19, anyone returning to school must wear a mask for an additional 5 days. Thank you for your support as we work together to keep our students in school.
