Placement for 2021-2022 School Year
Dear Families,

Each spring we begin to think about the placement of students for next fall. This process is complex and takes into consideration a number of factors. Your child’s teacher(s) has a wealth of knowledge about each student.  Consultation with the specialists gives us more information about your child and how s/he interacts in different instructional settings. We seek
to create balanced groupings at each grade level. All of us recognize this complex process as an important part of our professional responsibility to your children.

If you would like to offer your thoughts about your child’s placement with us, please respond in writing to the questions below and submit your response by May 12th  to your child’s teacher. This information will be helpful to us as we work to create classes that best match your child’s learning style and personality. We ask that you refrain from requesting a specific teacher by
name especially because our teacher assignments for next year are not yet final. Please understand that the entire placement team will view the information you share.

We recognize that the partnership between home and school is vital to your child’s educational success. Your continued support makes our school an exciting and enriching learning environment. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Clifford

Cradles to Crayons
We continue to partner with Miles River 8th grade student and Project 351 leader, Aiden Holloran to collect lightly used and new clothing for Cradles to Crayons.  There is a drop box in the gallery, thank you in advance for any items you are able to donate!

Feelings Friday
Some of our fifth graders continue to lead our Feelings Friday whole school announcements. Last week Remy King reiterated once again that all feelings are OK, it’s how we manage them that is important.  She then introduced another strategy we might use when facing uncomfortable feelings- mindful breathing.  Lauren Spong then explained a little bit about what mindfulness is and how it helps us clear our minds and focus on the present moment.  Lauren let everyone know that mindful breathing can help us calm our bodies and mind.  Finally, Henry Waddell led the entire school through a simple mindful breathing exercise.  This week they will be sharing additional mindful breathing activities with students.
I encourage you to continue this discussion about mindfulness and our previous week’s discussion about positive self-talk with your children at home.  In case you missed last week’s News to Use, below are some links for a list of positive affirmations as well as some you might consider printing and putting in your child’s lunch box.

As always, I am available by email or phone for any questions or concerns you might have.

Warmly,
Ann Creilson

25th Annual Melody Miles Fundraiser May 26 - 31, 2021

Race details:

Calling all runners, walkers, and Saturday morning strollers! We invite you to join the Hamilton-Wenham Friends of the Arts (FOTA) 25th Annual Melody Miles fun run/walk! This year our race is virtual, allowing you six days in May to run, walk, or dance your way through any 5k or 5mi route in your neighborhood (or on your treadmill).

Who will be crowned the FOTA school of the year?

We’re excited to introduce school teams this year. This friendly competition will end in being “crowned” as our top participating school team. The school with the most participation will get a special shout out on our social media channels, as well as well-earned bragging rights.

But what about the music?

We have always been about fun, family, and music, and hope this year will still be the same. We will be releasing a YouTube playlist of local singers and musicians for you to enjoy during your run.

Who does this benefit?

All proceeds benefit arts activities in our schools, including those here at Cutler. Show your support for the arts in our schools and join us for Melody Miles!
