Teachers are looking forward to meeting with you during your individual conference time either via Zoom or in person. Just a reminder that on Tuesday, November 2nd, school will be dismissed at 11:15 am and lunch will not be provided.

The Halloween Parade

This event was a great success with a huge turn-out from Cutler friends and families who lined the Cutler Circle with great enthusiasm! Kindergarten through Second Grade partook in the parade featuring their incredible costumes with appearances from astronauts, mermaids, witches, a banana, Harry Potter, Bazooka Bubblegum, Fruit Loops, Wonder Woman, Dalmations, ghosts and so many more. Although the parade is short and sweet it is a highlight of the year for our younger children and we so appreciate your coming out to support them!

Cutler School Fifth Grade Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Last week the Fifth Grade once again participated in the Cutler School Annual Pumpkin Decorating contest! Fifth graders decorate their pumpkins at home and bring them in for one day during which all classes, from K - 5, judge them for originality and creativity. Submissions this year included pumpkin representations of a woodland scene, an aquarium, a caterpillar, a hedgehog, witches and a glow in the dark spaceman. This year our winners were: Lylah Maltais, Mya Parisi and Zachary Stein!

Fifth Grade Ukelele String Jam

Mrs Graham's Ukelele String Jam for 5th graders is in full swing. We are happy to report that the turn-out is large and enthusiasm is high!  We look forward to hearing all that the group has learned at their next performance.

Stay tuned for information from Mrs. Graham about 'Ukes on Deck', an opportunity for 4th Graders to participate in our Ukelele program.

Transfer Busses

Please note that on Monday, November 8th, our transfer busses will be back in operation. This does not affect the majority of our students. Those that will be affected will receive more information within the next couple of days.

School Photographs

Your children's school photographs will be sent home today in your their backpacks. Please note that due to delays with UPS to O'Connor Studios, we have re-scheduled our picture re-take day to Friday, November 19th.

News From Library/Tech

Starting this month, Heidi Hebert in Library Tech will begin her program "Adventures in Coding" for all classes K - 5. Your children will be learning Block coding and Sequencing using pencil and paper as well as online platforms. Stay tuned for more exciting information!

We would like to remind you to search your homes for Cutler School Library books. During last year many library books ended up going home without the proper 'check out' procedures having been followed. All of this is entirely understandable, but we would be grateful if you would have a look for books - many thanks!

The Fantasticks

The HWRHS Theatre Department will be performing the classic musical, The Fantasticks, November 4, 5, 6 @ 6:30 pm, in the Ferrini Dramatics Center (775 Bay Rd. South Hamilton, MA)!

Tickets will be available @ the door ($10 for Students/Faculty & $15 for General Public).

Please note: Masks will be required for all in attendance.

News from the Health Office

Sorry for any prior confusion per DESE all students who are absent with Covid 19 symptoms

Must call their pediatricians and obtain a PCR test or an alternative diagnosis before returning to school.

COVID-19 Symptoms

Students who are unwell should remain home.  Below is the full list of symptoms for which caregivers should monitor their children, and staff should monitor themselves.

  • Unvaccinated individuals presenting these symptoms should seek PCR testing or contact their medical provider.

  • Vaccinated individuals experiencing symptoms in bold, should seek PCR testing and or clinical guidance to assess the need for PCR testing.

COVID-19 symptoms list

• Fever (100.0° Fahrenheit or higher), chills, or shaking chills

• Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath • New loss of taste or smell • Muscle aches or body aches • Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough) • Sore throat, when in combination with other symptoms • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea when in combination with other symptoms • Headache when in combination with other symptoms • Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms • Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies) when in combination with other symptoms

Masks:

This is a reminder to all families to please make sure to send your children to school with extra face masks. As the day wears on they can get hard to wear and a fresh new mask is appreciated, and often essential.

In addition, we would be grateful if you would send your child in with a water bottle each day as masks make for a dry mouth.

Mask Mandate Extension

By now you are aware that Commissioner Riley extended the mask mandate for all schools until “at least January 15, 2022”. Currently, if a school building demonstrates a vaccination rate of 80 percent or more of all students and staff in the school through an attestation form submitted to DESE, then vaccinated individuals in that school would no longer be subject to the mask requirement. Many of you have asked about the 80 percent rule. Whether or not to follow the 80% rule is a local decision. The HWRSD also has a school committee policy (EBCFA - Face Coverings) that is in place locally. It requires that all individuals in school buildings wear face coverings. This policy is reviewed at each school committee meeting to determine changes or to stay the current course.

Ski, Skate, and Board Sale

The Ski, Skate and Board event is less than a month away! We need an 'all hands on deck" approach to make this event a success!

There is no need for ski experience to volunteer! We have plenty of jobs that are not ski related. The only pre-requisite is that you are willing to help!.

Please check out the Sign-Up Genius links to volunteer, and note that all volunteers completing a 2-hour shift will gain access to the coveted 'Pre-Sale!

We appreciate your help and could not do this without the support of all of you!

Movie Night

The movie night committee would like to thank everyone who attended our firs t outdoor movie night! It was a huge success, and we have received a lot of positive feedback from families. We already have some great ideas for next year, and we hope to make outdoor movie night a new annual event!

Hospitality

Thank you to everyone who donated items for the Halloween 'snack cart' in the teacher's lounge on 10/26! The hospitality committee was able to provide the with lots of fun, yummy treats and they stocked their pantry with even more goodies. Thanks for helping show our teachers how much we appreciate them!
