From the Principal

Dear Cutler Parents,

I learned a new term, “meteorological spring.” Apparently, according to meteorologists, spring begins on March 1st, and I am totally bought into this! Let the days get longer and warmer!

It’s important that we recommit ourselves to safety in the car drop-off and pick-up line.

  1. This is a “live” line. This means that your child must be able to independently get into the car and get out of the car. The driver should not get out of the car at any point. If your child needs help loading/unloading, please park to get them.

  2. The absolutely safest way to load and unload your car is through the driver’s side back seat door. This means that you load all the kids into and out of the car so that they never have to walk around the car. It requires planning, and I encourage you to do this!

  3. Please pull up all the way to the front, in order to keep the line moving. Also, this allows more cars to load and unload where the ground is flat.

  4. Please be patient. We have had moments where people are in a rush and whip around cars. This is very dangerous as we have many children and parents walking.

  5. If you are parking and meeting your children, please walk across to the sidewalk/ field to meet your child. There have been parents calling to their children across the parking lot, and then the children go running toward the parent, sometimes across the line of traffic. This is dangerous.

  6. Please share this information with grandparents, babysitters and anyone else picking up your children. Many grandparents will visit, hop out of the car to help the kids in, creating confusion and back ups.

Thank you for your help and support keeping our students safe!

Wishing you all a wonderful spring week.

Warmly,

Juliana

From the Office:

Thank you to everyone who came in to check Lost and Found! We reunited many of the lost items, and will donate the rest.  Please remember to label your children's clothing.

From the Health Office:

With the wet winter weather, we ask that all students have a spare set of clothing at school.  We do go out for recess every day, and more and more kids are coming to the nurse's office for a change of clothes.  Please send an extra set for your child, just in case they get wet and need a change.  They can keep this in their cubbies.

Hello Cutler Families,

As we all venture into the new year with the best intentions to live a healthy life, I thought it would be helpful to share some ideas for  Healthy Snacks for school.

Please keep in mind that we have students and staff in our Cutler community with life threatening food allergies, so please consult with your child’s teacher or school nurse for guidance regarding safe snacks in your child's classroom.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year !!

Darlene

Guidelines for Dismissal or Reasons to Keep Your Child Home from School:

In an effort to minimize the spread of contagious illness, the Hamilton Wenham Regional School District has developed the following guidelines for determining whether your child needs to be sent home or stay home from school: Fever (elevated temperature of 100.0 or higher). Must remain home until fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicines, such as Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil).
Vomiting or diarrhea. May return to school 24 hours after the last episode.
Generalized rash of unknown origin. Must be evaluated by a doctor and provide a note for re-entry into school.
Live head lice. Must be treated at home, and then re-checked by the school nurse, preferably with a parent/guardian present, upon return to school.
Red or pink itchy eyes with crusty and/or green/yellow drainage. May return to school when there is no drainage and/or on medication for 24 hours.
Strep throat. May return 12-24 hours after beginning antibiotic treatment and feeling better.
Uncontrollable cough or symptoms that make your child unable to function in the classroom.

Please refer to the mass.gov website for COVID guidelines:

This list is a guideline. The School Nurse reserves the right to dismiss students who, in their professional opinion, are possibly contagious or are too ill to be in school.

From Our Library/Media Tech Specialist:

Cutler Families,
Next week we  touch upon the week of "Read Across America," this week is a celebration of reading.  We encourage students to try new ideas with reading.  Celebrate the whole month of March by reading outside, starting a book group or reading to a pet!

We're just over that halfway point of the year and are missing some library books.  Please help our books find their way back "home" to Cutler school!  If you have any questions, please reach out to j.spencer@hwschools.net

The purpose is to raise money for The Friends of HWRHS/MRMS to fund programs for the HS and MS and at the same time save shoes from landfills and send them to micro entrepreneurs in developing nations so they can sell them and lift themselves out of poverty.

There is a collection box in the lobby for your gently worn, used, or new shoes.
