News to Use, October 5, 2020

What a week! Having students back in the building has been exhilarating. We are all physically exhausted, but so much happier together. Students have done a fantastic job with the new COVID-19 guidelines. Please remember that masks should not have filters or be the 'gaiter' type of mask in order to comply with our policy.

We are also outside much more than we have ever been and will continue to do so as much as possible. Please help your child dress for the weather. Warm layers, jackets, and appropriate footwear will make the days much more pleasant. Being outside when we take our masks off as much as possible is one of our ways to keep safe, as we eat under the tents picnic style (those towels were put to good use each day!).

Drop-off and pickup has been a challenge with so many families arriving by car. Morning supervision begins at 8:30 am and the end of the day is still 2:57 pm. Please be sure to stay inside the car during both times, as having a driver at the wheel is a safety factor and keeps the line moving. If your child needs assistance, please get them ready before lining up in the drop-off queue. We will continue to get our afternoon systems tightened up, with the hope of having students watch the pickup line and getting themselves ready when you arrive. The way we line up with social distancing on the grass is a new learning curve for all of us!

What to send to school with your child this week:

  • Face mask (and a spare if possible)
  • Completed work and other materials requested by the classroom teacher
  • Snack
  • Water bottle
  • Lunch (or plan to order school lunch)
  • Towel (to sit on to eat outside) Students will be under the tents for lunch as much as possible. Their own towels will be helpful to allow them to picnic and remain in one safe spot.
  • Layers of clothing and appropriate footwear…we will be outside as much as possible!

News From The Health Office
As part of our mitigation strategies to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in school, we are asking families to complete a daily symptom checklist for potential COVID-19 symptoms.
For families whose children are part of the hybrid program, we ask that you submit a daily symptom checklist on your child(ren)’s in-person school days via our web-based parent portal.  You should have received log-in instructions and a password from noreply@studentehr.com.  Upon opening the portal the checklist will appear with your child(ren)’s names.  Passwords cannot be personalized, so please keep your password safely stored.  For forgotten passwords, you can contact your school nurse for it to be re-sent to you.  If your child is experiencing any of the listed symptoms, we ask that you keep your child home if it is their in-person learning day.
If your child(ren) is experiencing symptoms, please contact their health care provider and inform your school’s nurse.  Prior to returning to school please view the following guidelines for returning to school after experiencing potential COVID-19 symptoms.
Thank You All,
Lynne

Here is a great  how-to video made by our MRMS nurse Maribeth Ting to help us use our new Symptom Checklist. Please remember to enter you child’s date of birth in this format    2digits/2digits/4digits example: 01/01/2007

ASPEN VERIFICATION PROCESS:

Last year we piloted a Digital Verification process to update Aspen student records, family information, and confirm understanding of our school handbook and district procedures. After making some changes as a result of the pilot, we are continuing with this process to make it easier and more timely for families, save valuable time, and reduce paper use.

The following link will take you to the instruction sheet that will step you through the process.

Please follow the instruction sheet in order and be sure to sign by typing in your name and clicking the finish button when you are done.
