A message from Mrs. McIlvaine:
As the holiday season is approaching, we want to notify families of the Hamilton-Wenham Holiday Assistance Fund. This confidential program is coordinated by a dedicated community volunteer and is supported by the generous donations of many community members. The Holiday Assistance Fund has been established to assist Hamilton and Wenham residents and their families who have experienced hardship due to unemployment, illness of a parent or some other unusual circumstance. Due to limited funds, it is not intended to be a long-term assistance program or for families to use repeatedly unless there are extenuating circumstances. If your family meets the criteria stated above and you would like to request assistance, please contact Dolly McIlvaine, School Counselor, to discuss this program and eligibility in further detail. Dolly can be reached at 978-468-8475 or via email at d.mcilvaine@hwschools.net. Assistance will be in the form of gift cards for winter clothing and/or food or in some instances, gifts of essential clothing such as winter coats, hats, pajamas, socks etc. Requests for assistance should be made before November 9th.

If you are interested in making a monetary donation to the program, you may also contact the Dolly McIlvaine for details.

Last year, we were very excited to receive a grant from the HW Ed Fund entitled DREAMS (Designing Recess Experiences and Magical Spaces) to bring in a few alternative recess experiences to both our front and back playground.  We are continuing to work hard to complete this project and would like to request some donations in anticipating rolling the activities out in the next several weeks.  Specifically, we are looking for used Lego donations and used pots/pans and utensils for our much-anticipated Mud Kitchen!!!  There will be a collection bot for both outside the nurse's office for the next few weeks.  Many thanks in advance.

On the last rainy day, if you were dropping off your child(ren) in the morning, you may have noticed the flag outside the blue entrance doors that reads "In".  We put this sign out on inclement weather days (rain and/or freezing cold) and this means that the students should come inside before school.  Students in grades

Ice Breaker Night
Thank you for attending our Ice Breaker Night last week! This tradition has been so important for our school community, giving families and staff a chance to get to know each other early in the year. We aim for all students to feel a strong connection between home and school, ideally seeing both as places to explore and experience learning. The return of our Cutler graduates to hand out ice cream and toppings is a special twist, and we love seeing our former 'Cutler kids' as the babysitters and camp counselors of our current students. We were thrilled to visit with nearly every family and to see students sharing their learning environments with all of you. We hope you also had a chance to visit with each other on the playground and enjoy each other's company as well.

Thank you!
A special thank you to Kristine Ellis and our parent volunteers who spent time sprucing up our entry way before Ice Breaker Night.

Please be sure to check your student for head lice regularly and check them for ticks daily, especially after outside play time. Thank you for your cooperation. Lynne Nardella

Icebreaker Night: TONIGHT!
We hope that all families are able to join us tonight between 5-7pm for our Icebreaker Night, an event designed to allow families to meet classroom teachers, visit classrooms, and enjoy ice cream on the playground together. Over the past week, teachers have intentionally sent home their printed materials to fill families in on routines and expectations. We hope you have been able to review this information prior to the night and come with any questions to be answered tonight. Classrooms will open at 5pm, and will be open until all visiting families have been able to come through. Ice cream will be served beginning at about 6pm and teachers will join us on the playground as soon as they are free.

We will be reminding students that school expectations for behavior will apply as they play on the playground during the outside portion of the event. It is helpful if you can reinforce this message with your children. Thanks for your help as we try to keep everyone safe.

As usual, the ice cream is free and provided by the Friends of Cutler. We look forward to seeing all of you soon!

CORI/Fingerprinting
We recommend completing the CORI form found on the Cutler website under the "For Parents" side tab if you are interested in being a volunteer.  There is no cost to the CORI and it is a quick process. Simply bring the completed form to the Cutler office and Mrs. Parker will take a copy of your driver's license.  CORI's are good for 3 years.  If you would like to chaperone on field trips, then you will need to have fingerprinting done through Identogo. The information about fingerprinting is also on the website. Fingerprinting has a one time fee for volunteers and never expires.  Any questions, please call the office. Thank you!

Please check out the Early Childhood Partners website for lots of special events.  www.EarlyChildhoodPartners.weebly.com
