ATTENTION 4TH AND 5TH GRADE PARENTS

Each year as part of our health program, we present information on puberty and human growth and development for our 4th and 5thgrade students.  We address the growth and development process, nutrition, personal hygiene, physical and emotional changes during puberty and the increased responsibilities that accompany these important changes.

Tonight! February 26th, from 6:00 – 7:00pm there will be an information meeting for parents located in the Cutler School Learning Commons. You will have the opportunity to view the videos we use and ask questions. Parents are encouraged join us to learn more about how we present this information to your children.  Permission slips will be sent home and it is necessary for these forms to be returned in order for the students to attend this program.  Parents who do not want their children to participate must indicate that on the form.

If you would like further information, please call Dolly McIlvaine at 978-468-8475.

Cutler Health Office News        A few reminders to stay healthy:

Wash your hands often!  It is the number one way to prevent the spread of illness.  In particular remind your children to wash their hands before eating, after touching their nose or mouth, and after using the bathroom.  I would recommend that everyone wash their hands when returning home from public places and bring hand sanitizer with you when you go out.

Keep your children home if they are displaying signs of illness.  To return to school they need to be fever free for 24 hours (without the use of fever reducing medicine).  They also need to be free of vomiting and diarrhea for at least 24 hours before returning to school.  By keeping your children home when they are sick we can help reduce the spread of germs to others.

Remind your children to cover their coughs and sneezes by coughing into their elbow, shoulder, or a tissue.  They should immediately wash their hands after using a tissue and dispose of used tissues properly.

Do not share eating utensils or water bottles. Disinfecting of cell phones and touch screen devices is also important.

It is still not too late to get a flu shot.  It is not as effective as we would like this year, but it can prevent some cases of the flu, and also reduces the severity of the flu and the risk for hospitalization.  By protecting yourself you are also protecting those that are more vulnerable to complications from the flu.

Yours in good health,
Lynne Nardella LPN
