Connecting with New Cutler School Parents
As part of our ongoing efforts to be intentional in supporting new families as they transition into our school community, we will be hosting a New Parent Gathering on Monday, November 6th from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the Cutler School Learning Commons.  Any parent and or guardian who is new to Cutler School is welcome to join us.  This will be a time to check in to see how everyone is adjusting to their new school as well as to ask any lingering questions that you haven’t had answered yet.   It would be helpful for planning purposes if you could rsvp to d.mcilvaine@hwschools.nethowever, this is not necessary.  If your plans change and you want to drop in, please do so… Hope to see you there.
Take Time Tuesdays
Beginning in November and continuing for each Tuesday until our December break, our School Counselor, Dolly McIlvaine will be hosting an alternative lunch recess for any student, or staff for that matter…. entitled, “Take Time Tuesdays”This alternative lunch recess activity will take place in the Cutler gymnasium and will be a time for participants to slow down and develop more of a practice of mindfulness, self-calming strategies, and self-reflection.  If students are interested, they may sign up each Tuesday morning in their classroom.  This will be a week to week sign up with no long-term commitment required, however, if a student signs up, he/she must remain with the group for the entire recess period that day.  If students would like to bring in a mat or a blanket on Tuesdays to use during this time, they are welcome to do so, although we will have a few mats available each week for student use.  Please contact Dolly McIlvaine at 978-468-8475 if you have any additional questions.

Parent-Teacher Conferences
This time of year marks an important time for family engagement in the school year, parent-teacher conferences. Classroom teachers will be available for meeting with parents during the afternoons of October 24, 25, 31, and November 1. We do hope and expect that all families are able to meet with teachers during this month. If there is an extenuating circumstance that makes this difficult, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.  The opportunity for a two-way conversation helps both teachers and families support students by discussing strengths and areas for growth. Teachers will be prepared to discuss students' academic progress and to share examples of work.  It's important for teachers to learn about your child from you during the conversation--how does your child feel about school, what does homework time look like, what s/he is like at home, and what interests does s/he have outside of school. Parents can prepare by reviewing work that has been sent home and outlining questions ahead of time. We want your child to succeed, and this is one way we can all make sure it happens!

Halloween Parade
Mark your calendars...our annual kindergarten-grade 2 Halloween parade will take place on October 31 at 9am

Since costumes will not be worn for the remainder of the day, be sure your child has an appropriate change of clothing.  Please remember to emphasize non-violent costumes, with no weapons, gore or blood. Halloween School-Wide DEAM (Drop Everything and Move) will directly follow the parade outside on the hill
